When Columbo remarks that the body damage to this smug assholes Cadillac must cost at least $150. He replies "Sir, it costs $150 just to open the hood on a car like this."

It never occurred to me until now that complete jackasses were once the target customer of a Cadillac. I've only experienced something like this with Mercedes or BMW owners. Weird.

Back in the day, Cadillac made some pretty damn expensive cars, like more than Rolls-Royce expensive IIRC.

You're used to those Caddies being 40 year old hoopties not brand new luxury cars. Bonus points for Jack Cassidy, father of David Cassidy of the Partridge Family! It seems like he played a lot of guilty people on Columbo.

I think that was probably pre-war, when Cadillac was making awesome things. I wonder how close in price a Cadillac and Rolls were in the 70's?

I grew up in the 80's and 90's and remember when they were brand new hoopties. Most of those owners were kindly war vets/grand parents. I wonder if we'll start to see some of that kind of attitude with Cadillac getting a new demographic.
Looks like he is in 3 episodes. This is the second one I've seen with him and did not make the connection that he was David Cassidy's father.
